After parenteral administration of the vaccine, the immune system of the animal being vaccinated is activated which results in an induction of the specific immunity to PRRS. The immunity develops within 3 weeks after re-vaccination and persists for 4 to 6 months.

SUIVAC PRRS-IN inj. ad us. vet. is an inactivated vaccine designed for immunization of pigs against reproduction and respiratory syndrome of pigs.
Contraindications
Animals with the already developed clinical signs of the disease and animals with fever should not be vaccinated.
Interactions
None are known.
Dosage
An immunization dose is 2 ml.
Route of administration
The vaccine should be administered deep i. m. at an area of the neck behind the ear.
The basic immunization scheme consists in primary vaccination with one subsequent re-vaccination. It is to be recommended two re-vaccinations.
The following immunization schemes may be recommended for the immunization of individual categories of pigs:
Non-immunized gilts:
the primary vaccination at an age of 5 to 6 months (prior to mating) with re-vaccination over 3 to 4 weeks and with a subsequent second re-vaccination over 6 to 4 weeks prior to the expected farrowing.
Piglets:
the primary vaccination at an age of 6 to 10 weeks and re-vaccination over 3 to 4 weeks and the subsequent re-vaccination over further 3 to 4 weeks.
The above-mentioned immunization schemes are only of an orientation character. The scope of immunization is at discretion of the veterinary doctor, and depends also on a particular epizootological situation.
Adverse reactions
After vaccination, a moderate general reaction may occur manifesting itself by feebleness, inappetence and sometimes also increased body temperature.
At the site of administration, a transient moderate local reaction may occur. These reactions subside.
